We at OnBoard have been monitoring the news on the coronavirus impact and have determined that we need to heed the clear advice from C.D.C. and infectious disease experts to limit gatherings of more than ten people. So we will reschedule this event with our speakers Maria Saporta and Shirley Franklin for July or later, if at all possible. Progress is being made on increasing the number of women on corporate boards. In Georgia over 17% of board members are women driven by the fact that 35% of open seats were filled with women in the past year. But women of color in Georgia occupy only 3.4% of total board seats … almost on par with the S&P 500 at 3.5% but both Georgia and the S&P 500 are woefully low, especially when you consider that women of color are almost 20% of the U.S. population. What needs to happen to accelerate progress? Shirley Franklin and Maria Saporta are going to give us their perspectives.
Shirley Franklin is the Fmr. Mayor of Atlanta and executive chairman of the Board of Directors of Purpose Built Communities. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Mueller Water Products, is chairman of the board of the Center for Civil and Human Rights and serves on the board of the Volcker Alliance and the CDC Foundation. Shirley is a former member of the Delta Air Lines Inc. Board of Directors.
